Princess Cruises

Introducing Princess Cruises

What a memorable year 1966 was, England won the world cup in football and Stanley MacDonald created Princess Cruises. Their first ship was charted from Canadian Pacific Limited and named the Princess Patricia. During the summer months she ploughed her trade in Alaska for Canadian Pacific before moving to Los Angeles offering Mexican Riviera cruises for Princess Cruises.

Having kept their base in California, where along with Cunard (American arm of the Cunard Line) Princess Cruises are run from Santa Clara. They no longer rely on borrowed ships and have many new builds to their name.

The first ever new build for Princess Cruises was Royal Princess in 1984, not only was she their first, she was also the UK’s first all Ocean View cruise ship, no inside cabins, except the staff quarters. Royal Princess now cruises as Artemis for P&O Cruises, Princess Cruise’s sister line.

Those old enough to remember the Love Boat television series, screened in 1977, well that was written onboard Princess Carla and filmed using the Island Princess and Pacific Princess. While on the theme of filming, Princess Cruises where the first cruise line to offer Movies under the Stars, giant screens next to the pool on the top deck where you can watch the latest releases while soaking up the sun.

With 17 ships to choose from, including three of the small but wonderful ex Renaissance Cruises R class ships and more than half of her fleet built since the turn of the century, Cruise XYZ can offer you an exciting cruise package with Princess Cruises.
